GZ250 Recall????

Hi. I got a note in the mail today from Suzuki, that states i need to get my 2006 Gz250 into the dealer due to a recall. The note does NOT state what the recall is about or which parts of the bike might be dangerous. Anyone have any info on this? I just bought it 3 weeks ago! :cuss:

I bought mine thorough a registered dealer and I haven't heard anything. Are you 100% sure that it looks legit? Is it from Suzuki? Is it on a letter-head? stuff like that...

Yes, it is a postcard from suzuki. The only strange thing is that it does not list specifically what the problem is....I will have to look at it a bit more closely when i get home, as i am at work right now. I called the dealership, and they have no idea what it could be. Will keep y'all posted as i find out.

well, it turns out the recall is something about the rear fender not being centered correctly. the dealer will fix it under warranty next weekend. another appointment for me to keep, but at least it's free! hope this helps some of you. If you have a 2006 GZ, maybe you'd better look into it. stay safe!!!

Does the postcard specifically state just the 2006 model? I bought my 2004 from the dealer last year and haven't received any recall notice.

Yes, Ive never heard of this recall, and my Suzuki dealer has no clue either.
I have an 07 model and Im wondering about the fender, and why they would recall a bike because a fender was not exactly aligned.

I dunno why they recalled the bike, and I do not know if it is 2006 models only, or others as well. Dealership did say they had heard about the recall, and will fix it for free. Perhaps there is more info on the internet. I will not be able to get the bike fixed for a couple of weeks due to time constraints, but will keep you all posted as things progress.

I got one of those, Molly. I took it in before the big trip, they checked it (so had I) and it was ok. What they had found, I believe, is that sometimes the back tire rubs on the left side of the frame. If you sit on the bike and reach back and tuck your fingers under the fender, you'll find that it's close. However, the tire, at least in my case, doesn't quite make it to the frame. I checked this by coating the side of my tire with flour (oh, stop laughing, it was handy) and then taking my niece for a ride around the block. We hit all the bumps we could, and didn't have any rubbing at all.

If my niece was heavier, or were I heavier, it may have rubbed.
