Joshua Tree
Most of this ride was getting there and getting back. I had planned on going north to Monterey, but chickened out because of predicted rain. So I did a one day round trip instead.
[pbss:3ivptquq]http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd7/alanmcorcoran/jtree/?action=view¤t=cb1bcf28.pbw[/pbss:3ivptquq] Rode out on 91/60/10/62 to North Entrance. Once in the park, rode up Key View, a one way spur to a lookout point. Back down, then 40 miles of semi twistie through the park. Comes out back on the 10, 21 miles east of Indio. Back hammering on the 4-lane for 110 miles to the house. A little more than 300 miles total.

Re: Joshua Tree
Good ride.
You have great weather and places to ride. Very lucky.

Re: Joshua Tree
Good report. JTNP is one of my favorite places on the planet. How was the wind through San Gorgonio Pass (Cabezon area), especially on the way back?

Re: Joshua Tree
Moe,
It's hard to tell. You know it's gonna be windy, but you are already going near 80, so I don't think it was too much windier. The props on the wind turbines weren't turning too much. Brings up another topic, Wind Induced Brain Rattle: When you are hammering down the freeway, the wind drifts up around the helmet and sets up a sort of vibration of your skull that I think makes me a little extra stupid after a few hours. I felt a bit of a side wind going up 62 into JTNP. After dealing with 40+ miles an hour gusts on the GZ (you know I live in the Santa Ana Canyon wind tunnel) wind is a lot less anxiety inducing on The Beast. I guess from the bicycle experience I've learned to automatically countersteer into the wind. I've had some interesting wind encounters where the 55 meets the 5 in Tustin, esp on the GZ. Partly scary because of the wind pressure, party scary because of all the crap flying around.

Re: Joshua Tree
Hello, Mr. Alan.
Ha ha ha, I did visited Joshua Tree today, for new bike test drive...... Anyway, I really liked it. I want to go ride there under the sunshine and warm temp. It is really a beautiful place, road condition also was nice to enjoy it with bike. Today, it's cold windy....no sunshine at all. Nice pictures.... How's your new bike doing?

Re: Joshua Tree
You may have read elsewhere I dropped it in my office parking lot, but I didn't mess it up much. Other than that, it's doing pretty good. I'm at about 1200 miles already. Need some consistent weather to get going on the thing.
