Need your thoughts on selling GZ250

Looking for advice on selling my bike. I bought about a year and a half ago for the wife. She never rode it. It's a 2009 one owner with less than 200 miles, truly mint condition. I add the Suzuki engine guard, a tach, windshield and have both the 15T and 16T sprockets. All paperwork and complete factory tool kit. I added a battery tender which has been on since day one. Problem is I bought it from a dealership and paid about 4500 out the door.... too much I know.

Now I am looking to sell the bike. I know I will take a hit but what is the price I should be asking ?? What is the best way to sell it, local adds, craigs list or ebay ???

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice

JIM

Yikes, man.

There is no way you'll get more than $2,700.... And I don't doubt your condition description at all. And you even chose the right accessories that most people would value, but they'll never achieve their original market value.

I have seen uneducated buyers pay almost $3,000 for these on Ebay, used. But there are problems with selling vehicles on ebay, like the posting fees and the fact that deals can fall through and you don't get to actually deal with individuals, which is something that I have a problem with...

The market just isn't there for them to fetch much more than that, unfortunately. The good news though, is that you should be able to fetch the high end of out lower market. So good luck, man.

(PS - given that you're in Florida, there is a possibility that you just get lucky and someone pays whatever just because they want a bike. But for people that know how to shop, I think my numbers are pretty solid.)

Here in California, seems like most listing are in the two thousand dollar range no matter what the year is. Mine a 2009, I'd be happy if I could get $1,500. Just my obsevations over the years. Good luck, $2,500 seems way too high.

Polish it up and park it in the front yard or somewhere with plenty of traffic and put a for sale sign on it. You might get someone who buys on the spur of the moment without doing due diligence.

If they ask why you're selling it say your wife decided riding was not for her. With that few miles on it if you say "she outgrew it or chose to ride a scooter" they might figure the same reasons to look at other bigger or easier choices.

Good luck with the sale. Don't forget there is a for sale section here.

I just bought my bike this week, it is a 2008 with 250 miles on it. I am located in Utah, probably a bit lower in price, but I paid $1700, I saw others listed at $1300 (which I missed) and $2100 here.

Be sure no one test rides the bike without putting the full agreed price in your hand. Must be cash only. Even a certified cheque can be a scam. I had a stack of pretty C notes for my Vstrom.
