Second bike, my first was an auto shift---Having trouble shifting into first after a stop. Only have 50 miles on it but first gear has to be jimmied to get in gear. Should I return to dealer?

Nope. It just takes some practice. First off - shift into first before you stop. (keep the clutch in, step it down as you are braking.) Second, if you do come to a complete stop, let the clutch out a little, and let the gear move a little as you are pressing down the shifter and it will pop right in.

You'll get used to it. Give it a week and you won't even notice it.

What auto-shift bike did you have?

If you roll the bike forward or backwards a few inches, it should be able to shift into first gear. This is common with almost most bikes and is nothing to be worried about, it's normal behavior. You should shift into first before you come to a complete stop and hold it there with the clutch in while you are waiting at a light or stop sign, as a safety feature, just in case you have to move real quick, like when a car is coming up behind you and it doesn't look like it's going to stop (until he hits you).

Thanks all!, I was getting worried that it had a defect. Stopped at a dealer and they thought it might need an adjustment, but I didn't have the bike with me at the time.
My last bike was a 250, Q-Link (CFMoto) Legacy, nice unit the size of a standard bike and fun to ride, had it for three years and felt I would like to move to gear shifting. The gz250 feels great and drives almost as good as the Q-Link.
I only drive local and short trips but have wanted a shift unit. Who knows I may move up in size in the future but for now this is all I need.

After you do your 600 mile oil and filter change there will be a nicer feel to the transmission. Make sure the shifter and rear brake peddle are adjusted to fit your feet for comfy usage.

Yes, as Mr. WW said.
The new bikes transmission also requires some break-in time as bike-engine needs.
After break-in time, first gear engagement will be on smooth.
It's from my experience...
