Re: First ride on new GZ 250.

Insurance isnt compulsary here. And currently I dont have any insurance. Its kinda of a scam really. 8 yrs and Iv only had 2 minor accidents(In the car, nothing on bike 'yet') that didnt cost much to repair.

Through an online quote though it would be about $213.44 a year. So not too bad.

Its a 6 monthly inspection here. Unless your vehicle is under 6yrs old then it is yearly. Registration can be 3/6/12 months, depends how much you want to pay at the time. Currently $414.53 a year for motorbikes under 600cc. You dont want to know how much it costs for motorbikes over that.... :/

The NZ govt knows how to sting ya.

*edit, wrong price...
Our examination is every 2 years for bikes. I've just been down, this morning, to pay my annual tax. €12.57 (around $19 ?) My insurance for the year was €123.41 (around $180 ?)

Water Warrior: Can you not use a private insurer at all ? Seems like a major scam if you ask me.

There has been talk about compulsary third party insurance (If you crash they repair the car you crashed into, and not yours) here, with an option of using the govt or private. Where the govt one most probably being a private one anyway. But I havent herd anything more for awhile.

Re: First ride on new GZ 250.

My insurance for a bike was 188 euros and includes almost everything; the damage is covered, whether i am guilty or other party, it covers also my passenger. I got this insurance with 45% off, cause it's a deal made among our family (through my father's dea, but on my name). It's also cheap cause the bike has only 20 hp...

The ICBC(Insurance Corporation of British Columbia) gets my money to cover anyone or anything I might crash into on my travels. I do have a private policy that covers everything else for $325 a year. I probably save 200/300 a year doing it this way
My Ranger pick up is covered entirely by ICBC. I didn't know any better when I moved here 7 years ago and have just never got around to searching out a private co. as with the bike. All in all my ins costs $2000 a year and we just got a 7% increase from ICBC. I can't imagine what working folks are paying as I get a break being retired and then another 25% off for being an old guy over 65 years.

Insurance in Canada is a license to print money. We have retarded rates even for good drivers and riders. It is a necessary evil so we just suck it up and keep on with our lives.

I don't like that one bit!!!!!! So if someone runs into you, writes your bike/car off, and breaks every bone in your body, they can just say "Sorry I've no cash or assets, so it's your tough luck" Similarly if you hit somebody can you afford to pay for repairs to their vehicle plus any damages awarded to them, or will you just say "tough luck pal". In my opinion, you must have the stupedest government in the world for not making it compulsary, and the stupedest drivers/riders for not getting insurance. :??: If this makes you think, then good, because I'm talking about YOUR stupidity. I'm not usually this blunt, but in this case I think my bluntness is well earned. :cuss:
