BEFORE I have trouble to shoot

Given the limited wattage of the stator on the GZ - is there a gauge that would show the wattage being used (Alantf this might be your area). I would like to know what's going on before the stator gets burned up. I added brake lights to my saddlebags and now the headlight dims slightly when brakes are applied... my 1979 Suzuki GS1000E did the same thing when the turn signals where turned on. Are Suzuki's just that weak?

Don't know of anything that'll show wattage, but you could fit an ammeter & voltmeter, as power (watts) = VxA. You'd have to do a quick calculation.

Having said that - it is just possible, in this day & age, of new technological wonders every day, that there's a product I've not heard of.

Re: BEFORE I have trouble to shoot

I doubt the stator will be burned up or damaged. Alantf can confirm this but it puts out maximum all the time so a slightly extra load will make no difference to it. I think what you are noticing is the voltage drop with the extra draw of the added lights. Most noticeable at idling speed. I wouldn't worry too much about it. The charging system will replace any power loss's to the battery once the RPM increase again.
An effective alternative would be LED lights. That can open us many possibilties if you are so inclined.

I remember in the "good old days" when bikes had magnetos. Going fast, the lights were ok, but as soon as you came to a bad bit of road, and had to slow down, the lights dimmed down to "candle in a jam jar" and you couldn't see sh*t.
