A few years ago I researched the high-end market for noise canceling phones as I occasionally need to do live soundtracks. My Sure earbuds beat them all… They cut the outside noise as well as any earplugs, which is better than the noise canceling phones I tried. Come to think of it though, I never used them to listen to the music (or what ever), but just to hear what was actually being taped. I use an AKG K 240 DF to listen to stuff. However, these AKG's will not work well for your intended purpose
