New rider from NoVA

Hey all,

Just got my motorcycle license a month or two ago and I bought a 2000 GZ250 as my first ride last week. I'd read lots of good reviews on the model, aside from the acceleration at highway speeds and on hills, and as I am 6', it was a better fit than the other 250s out there. I may upgrade to the 16T in the not too distant future to see what that can do for the bike.

I took a 2 hour drive yesterday, and it was great - I can't wait to ride it again! Unfortunately, I'm only going to ride on the weekends for a while, since the traffic around DC and in Northern VA is awful and I don't want to ride in rush hour traffic until I get more comfortable as a driver and with this bike. If anyone has some suggestions for drives in Northern VA, please let me know. This forum looks great, and I look forward to sharing my experiences, as well as learning from everyone else's.

- Steve

Howdy Steve , I also just got my learners license a month ago.
I've been practicing around our local streets on my 2005 GZ250 to get some confidence on the road and amongst the traffic.
Next week I'll start taking it to work on the motorway.

Cheers,
Shane
