Winter in NW Florida

OK, so here it is near the end of yet another brutal winter in NW Florida. Took a drive to Pensacola Beach Friday after work... at the pier people out braving jellyfish and cold water but swimming in skimpy swimsuits, riding jet skis or personal water craft.

Walked the beach this morning - 72F degrees, warm sunshine. A nice change from last weeks 38F degree rides into work. Water was crystal clear, sugar white sand was blinding to look at in the sun. Here are a few pictures for those of you still in the grips of cold to drool over.

I work in this resort building and walk the harbor everyday. It's rough :2tup:

I have to see this everyday

You have a beautiful area where you live and work. Thanks so much for sharing the warmer weather and sunshine. A lot of folks are still digging out from winter snowfalls and severe cold temps. They really need a ray of sunshine to brighten their day.

We use Cape San Blas as our get away.

Indian Pass Raw Bar is a great place for raw oysters.

Riding to Gulf Shores AL today... doing Cape San Blas in a few weeks. Gotta love these short winters.

Re: Winter in NW Florida

It's been much warmer this year than in any of the past 11 since I've been down here. Here's our forecast for this week. I feel bad for my family and friends back up in NY/NJ who are in the 20 degree area now and expecting snow.
(Sorry I can't straighten out and rotate the picture, it's correct on my computer.)

Re: Winter in NW Florida

Pictures taken today from an 18th floor condo where I work. The water is beautiful here and changes from blue to emerald green depending on the sky. Included a picture of our "snow" and the dredge that is rebuilding the beaches along the gulf for the next couple of months.

I cross this bridge every morning and see the fishing fleet headed out.

Below - my dog Suzanne at the dog park today.

Thanks for letting me bore you with pictures of where I live. 3/4 of a miles from Choctawhatchee Bay and 1 mile from the Gulf of Mexico. Destin is called the luckiest fishing village in the world - within 8 miles of East Pass the ocean floor drops to over 2,000 feet that means really big fish. MOST other places in the world you have to go 50 to 200 miles off shore to get that depth.

Bore!!!! H3ll no. Thanks for sharing your part of the planet. I don't often see a horizon let alone a beauty that you have. I have to drive south to the Vancouver area to see a horizon on the open sea.
The pic is of Duffy Lake north of here. Closest I can get to a horizon. GZ and Vstrom from a few years ago.

Re: Winter in NW Florida

Here's a few pics of where I live, (should make all of you up there freezing your bearings off sick) taken by a friend of mine who gets up early and stays out late, walking around with a camera constantly looking for that great shot that she always gets.
