Lori and her sister

Impromptu ride... one of those "hey, lets go for a ride" days. Lori's sister had only ridden once on a bike that I'm aware of. According to Lori, she was a good passenger.

Heres she stands before her other ride.

... and here, in front of my 4wheeler.... and the reason is obvious why she hasn't been riding. our boy is sue Dec 12th!

Proper riding gear is what the rider deems proper riding gear. In the summer here it's shorts, work boots, t-shirt, helmet and gloves. Just too damn hot. The Spring and fall it's ATGATT as well as those good days in Winter. I can probably ride 350 out of the 365 days a year.

although i was already expecting it... i'll ditto mole. to me, "improper" is the lack of a helmet regardless of what the state allows. roadrash heals up fine. a split mellon on the otherhand.... O_o

Okay. Had to say it, it's been said, no more quibbling from me. I certainly don't have to deal with the humidity you guys do back there.

Ok, I just have to jump in on this one - mainly because I live in Phoenix, Arizona, where the daytime temps get up to 118 degrees (been as hot as 122) in the daytime, and it's so hot you can literally fry an egg on the sidewalk, and I still manage to wear a full face helmet, mesh riding jacket, gloves, boots, and some kind of pants. Now I understand that humidity is a real bitch, but I would really hate for any new rider, especially an unexperienced one, to read some of these posts thinking that zipping out on their bike in shorts and a t-shirt - helmet or not - could EVER be considered proper riding gear, because it cannot.

And as far as the "road rash heals just fine", that may be true in some instances. But I can say from experience that the scars and underlying nerve damage don't always heal up "just fine", and in fact, that is why I wear full protective gear all the time now. My thoughts : if it's just too hot to wear proper protective gear, then it's just too hot to ride your bike. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

And I disagree with you Kev. Most days I ride in jeans (never shorts), t-shirt, riding boots, and a half helmet. I use my bike(s) as my primary transportation (although I do own a cage). I say to each their own.

What works for you doesn't work for everybody. As I've said before, here in Florida I'm much more likely to have a heat stroke doing the ATFGATFT thing than I am having accident. My ass, my call. You're sounding a bit paranoid old buddy.

I agree with Kev. ATGATT. If it is too hot to ride with safety gear I have a A/C Ranger.
