turn signal sticks a bit

turn signal sticks a bit as i press the release. i notice metal piece that goes into the housing is a bit rusty and i am planing on opening it up and cleaning it. any suggestion on what i should use to clean with or if i should take it apart on not. i don't want to loose my turn signal and the manual and parts diagram do not show the inners of the turn signal. i have wd40 and cleanup chain cleaner. another fear i have is i don't want to mess up the contacts and cause it not to work.

Re: turn signal sticks a bit

WD40 will actually make metal rust, and is a super attractant for dirt and grime. Find a dry spray lubricant. Most auto part stores have better lubricants, just read the labels.
