2005 engine into 2001 frame?

I have read through the previous posts that both mention that "all GZ250" engines are the same and will fit.

My worry is that the upper frame mounting bracket part number and the crankcase part numbers are different between the 2001 and 2005 engine years and i am concerned that i'm going to blow $500 on a 2005 engine that will not line up/fit.

For reference the 2001 upper frame mounting bracket is #41991-13F00 (used 1999 to 2002 models) , the 2005 #41991-13FA0-EE3 (used on 2003 to 2010 models).

The 2001 crankcase #11300-38868 (used 1999 to 2002 models, and 82-88 GN250), the 2005 crankcase #11300-13F03 (used 2003 to 2010 models)

Hoping that someone here has the definitive answer on this. Thankyou in advance...^^

Allen, did you ever find an answer? I'm considering doing the same. Thanks!

Awesome, thanks for the info BachelorB. I have a 2001 body in need of a new engine. If only I could find one on a budget...

What about your carburetor? Does it need to match the year model of the engine? Or will a 2001 Carb work on say, a 2009 engine?

Thanks again,

Shouldn't be a problem. If there is a tip I can give for you is when reinstalling the carburetor, take out the tool box and take out the bolts for the air box.... then install the carb. I spent a couple of hours trying to fit the boots before I did this. After I loosened the airbox it took about 5 minutes
