Valve / engine issues

It seems that valve failure is a common problem with these bikes. Adjusted or not. Has anyone contacted Suzuki about this problems? This should be a recall.

Valve failure is not due to manufacturing quality control. The valves themselves should be checked and/or adjusted per the manual. This will greatly extend valve life. The other reason for some but not all failures is asking the bike to do more than it is designed to do. Running at high RPM's for long distances is not the GZ's strong point. You can't keep up with the big boys on the highway unless you push the bike beyond it's intended use and capabilities. The GZ is basically a 3rd world bike that has made it into developed countries and is a fine starter bike. For some it is the major form of transportation and does very nicely. It is not to be considered a high speed bike on major roads. Slow down and ride the secondary roads. That is where the GZ shines and thrives. Proper maintenance and a little TLC will keep the bike running for a long long time. Stay on roads where you don't need to exceed 60-65 mph.
