Muffler inlet size?

I've searched under different terms and cant find anything on this. I'm putting on a new muffler and want to know what the size of the pipe is. I measured my old muffler and it seems to be 1.25 inches, but can anyone else confirm this? I want to get a muffler that is 1.5 inches, will that work?
Thanks.

Re: Muffler inlet size?

That will work just fine.If you need to go bigger you can just put a reducer pipe in of the size needed, as your original heat shield goes back on to hide it.

How will the new muffler attach to the pipe ??

If it's a slip-on and clamp design, you might need a little shim material to get a snug fit......like some aluminum roof flashing.
