which oil filter is the best to use
hi all
i've read the great debate about oil.. it appears that rotella t 5-40 synthetic is the oil to use. but no mention of which filter is best to use. for my truck i once read the test results of automotible filters. mobile 1 was the on top of the list so i've been using them in my truck. have 200 miles on the bike bought it with 168 miles (2006). the oil was changed and chain adjusted by the dealer. am thinking of switching over to synthetic before the 600 mile break in. have a great ride grego |

Re: which oil filter is the best to use
Yeah, wait for the 600 mile oil change to switch to synthetic. It will probably be for the best. Then go to the synthetic. As for oil filters I was using a Hi Flo 136 in Lynda's GZ. It is probably a bit cheaper than a Suzuki filter and does the job just as well. If you are of the mind to do oil changes yourself in the future you can get the filters at most power sports shops or auto parts. They are quite common and used on many different machines.

Re: which oil filter is the best to use
Still no mention of what the best oil filter to use is. The debate on which oil to use has been beaten to death on this forum, but I would still love some clarification on a preferred oil filter. K&N, fran, hi flo, etc?
(Also the exact model # would be nice. That way when people look up oil filter for a suzuki gz 250 on Google, it will help them find the answer quickly, but at this site as opposed to other sites) |

And is available at most ATV, motorcycle and small engine shops. A very common filter used on a variety of machines.

All filters are basically the same. Just grab something you've heard of before and enjoy riding your bike.

Re: which oil filter is the best to use
hi all
i remember finding a review of oil filters for cars which converted me to using mobil 1 oil filters. i did a search on oil filters for motorcycles.. perhaps this will answer my own question.... http://www.tobycreek.org/oil_filters/index.shtml safe biking grego |
Re: which oil filter is the best to use
Youtube search for oil filter comparison.
You would be surprised at how flimsy and weak some of the "premium" filters are. Sure, filtering media has a little bit to do with it. But what good is expensive filtering media when your bypass valves and o-rings are crap cardboard and don't even hold themselves in place. Again. Just buy something with a name you have heard of and change it regularly. |

Now this is a discussion about oil filters! Thanks for the input guys! A special thanks to grego (that link is a great resource)
