Crazy is good for the soul. The Earth is the insane asylum for the universe. Your neighbors are just a bit jealous.

You go girl. I have been riding for the last 30 years, My wife now 50 just started riding this year and I bought her the GZ250. She is having a ball and enjoying life down here. Have fun and enjoy your bike, just be careful and watch out for the crazy's car cell phone taking drivers.

Re: chaps

Looking good Daisy. I wear chaps in December and January (our coldest months here in north eastern South Carolina. I ride all year weather permitting - no rain, snow, sleet or hail and temps at least 50 or above. But then again I'm out at the coast where it's warmer and about 10 miles south of the NC border. Ride safe.

:)

Re: chaps

I thought about getting chaps but went instead for full leather over pants - just as easy to put on with full side leg zips, but keeps your crotch warmer and IMO opinion look better. But those look pretty good on you. Keep riding, it's never too late to start, and it puts a little more fun back into your life.

Just for fun and general knowledge. How old are our members ? I turned 66 last March. Don't be shy, older age is a good thing because it beats the alternative.

flajim, have you been in the harley store there? i understand its big. coming through there in dec on the way to grandsons graduation at boca raton. think i'll check it out. we use to come to daytona every summer on vacation . we brought a bike down one year and rode it all over. will be good to see daytona again.

Re: chaps

Ok, First, I am 53. Yes been to the Destination Harley many times, it's now my local Harley as Beach Street is closed. Very good service department, clean, fast and friendly. The complex is very large and worth stopping at the Harley Dealership and JP showroom, plus a few smaller stores. I have been coming down to the area for the past 15 years, then I retired and moved down. Daytona is a great place for vacations or Bike Week but living here is a little different, good but different, takes a little time to get used to "Florida" life. If you have the time plan a trip down for Bike Week or Bikeoctoberfest, you will not be sorry.

If it's anything like the Harley store on this island, everything is around three times the price of other stores, just because it's got a "Harley" label sown in.

Re: chaps

flajim, thanks for the harley store info. definetely going to check it out early dec. came to daytona every summer for 50 years.love to walk on that beach at sunrise. use to fish at inlet harbor all the time. its changed and better entertainment wise but not for fishing.can't believe beach street is closed. its been around 6 years since i have been there. my daughter lived in ft walton and i have been visiting the gulf coast. 53 sounds good . i remember when. i don't feel my age. i still swim a lot , dive alot ,ski, snorkle . went noodling this summer with oklahomas champion noodler and caught a catfish . just don't plan on stopping until the old ticker does. lot of young riders but love to see there are some aged ones too. its fun to ride with both. thanks again

I should clear up that Beach Street Harley closed but is going to reopen, they are planning in Feb/ March 2012 as a "Harley Museum" without selling bikes or service.... but I am sure they will be selling t-shirts/ and other crap.... LOL

I used to wear Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0 pants for cooler weather. Water proof and windproof with 4 big pockets. XL no longer fits me so if anyone in Southern B.C. wants to make an offer, go for it.

Are those those shin guards and knee guards that you posted before? Can you repost the link. I want to purchase them.

The link I just picked out of a hat to show the guards. The brand name is Icon and I bought them from a store called "Motorcyle Gear" for about 75.00.

Thank you. They don't manufacture that model any more and the new ones don't look the same to me...plus they're $105+. I now see others so I'll see what I can get.

GZ rider. Velcro wears out but here is an idea that "Might" work for you. The Velcro wore out on my boots so I had a shoe repair shop put on a couple round button snaps on each boot. So far they work great and didn't cost a whole lot compared to new Velcro or new boots. I just showed him where the boot velcroed into the usual position and went for coffee.

Thanks for the idea. I had considered sewing new velcro on to it at some point as I'm pretty good with a sewing machine (which some would say the GZ sounds like). Probably I would just buy the new ones as the knee gets scuffed up over time anyway.[/quote:atvnrw85]
Scuffing is good. Tells folks you actually wear the gear to prevent scuffing on your human parts. That is the best advertisement for ATGATT.

Re: chaps

43 here and new to riding. I actually bought some chaps but haven't really wanting to wear them. It's just that, I live kind of close to San Francisco, and, while there's nothing wrong with it, it's just that chaps around here have sort of an association with "leather bars" and a certain sort of lifestyle.

I totally love those shin guards, though! I have some motocross shin/knee guards I picked up at CycleGear for about $30. They look like moto-x shin guards.
