Sad day-gz down for the winter
Hurriedly got the garage situated for the winter-the gz is against the wall. Just rode her last Tuesday but the cold weather is setting in-we had about an inch of snow last night-winter sucks

Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
Winter does suck. But that doesn't mean we can't keep each other warm with tales of two-wheeled folly and plans for what we'll do to these bikes in the Spring, right?
Hunker down everyone... except your losers who live on the beach and like to share photos of Dolphins. |
Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
Yeah, us seasonal and recent non-riders can just have our fantasies of the mountain twisties and sunshine. Of course my fav fantasies have nothing to do with bikes.

Hahaha! Well said, my friend.

Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
I have been looking a CL for a new to me bike for next season. Starting to kick myself for not picking up a good deal when it was offered to me.

I suggest a FZ8 next, if you visit Western powersport they're closing down so you might get a good deal on a bike right now. |
Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
Cathy, I'm hoping to find a bike old enough to be insured as a collector bike. Insurance is really a joke for a collector compared to a newer bike. Also the older bikes can be maintained somewhat easier without special tools or a computer program. I really like the new foolproof bikes but I am not willing to pay that much for what is essentially a big toy.

Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
People like DRZ since it's is under the 400cc insurance bracket, but I guess it is a little bit uncomfortable since it is a dual-sport. I don't really know what you like to ride though.

Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
Had a Vstrom 650 for 7 years and it was a foolproof, bulletproof bike but I tired of it. I am thinking of a cruiser now with just enough comfort for a day ride with a few stops to stretch the old body parts. Of course I am also looking at an old Gold Wing in good shape. They are very comfy and any parts needed are always available.

Like those old Aspencade ?
I've seen them go for 2-3 with high kms. |

Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
Just trying to get a bite on a 82 Wing right now. The seller wants too much with absolutely no maintenance history. I have a $2200 limit set for another bike. I can afford more but I figure to limit my spending now and know there will be certain expenses later on any older bike. Luckily I have friend who is a pretty good mechanic and knows a lot about Wings of the past.
He bought a 84 Wing that needed a lot of TLC and now it runs like new. I am impressed with way he does things. |
Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
Good luck, this is the best time to buy and sooner or later they will drop. My Marauder was originally asking $500 more then what I got it for.

Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
The owner of the Wing is asking $2950 on CL but will take $2500. Gotta think about this one for a while. Maybe offer $2400 if it looks real good in person. How the heck would I get a 700 pound bike up into the back of my Ranger? Can't/won't ride it back, too many unknowns with a strange bike.

Re: Sad day-gz down for the winter
2300-2400 would be great, where is it ?

That is not bad, take the ride with BCAA to cover you in case of failure. :3

Not good for the forum.
