Horny

Ok... So... I have had this bike for a little bit and I'm already getting nearly run off the road numerous times. *loud pipes save lives anyone?!?!?!* Need more noise.
I'm ready to get rid of the *beeep beeep* and stick a couple of noisemakers on the front of this frame.

Surfing Orielly's...

So I'm thinking a couple of the Wolo car horns. One in the 300 to 400 hz range and one in the 400 to 500 hz range.

I'd add a new circuit with a new power relay and new fuse to protect the suzuki wiring. I'm an e-tech, that's not a problem.

Whaddya think? Big loud car horn racket?
Just piss people off or get them to respect my personal space?
I'd do the air horns but I think that would just get noticed sans noise...
Can you imagine a bike that sounds like a big boat or train :lmao: :)

spldart 06-03-2015 09:31 PM

Either this or open pipe so nobody can ignore me 8-O

OMG the youtube videos of the train and ship horns on cars. I wish I had the space :lmao:

Anywho.. No joke... I'd only plink the horn button when someone comes into my lane like I wasn't there leaving me with nowhere to go.

A Stebel air horn will work well. Had one on the Vstrom and Lynda insisted on one for her M-50. Worked very well the day it saved her from becoming road kill due to a dumb driver. Yeah he was that close when she blasted through his open window with 139 db.
As a side note, air horns will really annoy folks on cell phones too. A woman driver on a cell wandered into my lane and I let her have it. Side by side we were. Scared her so bad she had an unwanted muscle reaction and tossed the cell out the window. Too funny. She likely still hates. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

You can try louder pipes...this is what I did.... https://youtu.be/KIS9Hzv--f0

grasshopper 06-04-2015 09:17 AM

WW2- You may have saved the drivers life too. That's funny that her phone went out the window.

grasshopper 06-04-2015 09:43 AM

You could try some a small air horn kit like this... http://youtu.be/DH-c6NsCLnU

Wow, those are long horns.

The Stebel air horn is much more compact and easy to find a mounting point. A few other horns that look like the Stebel are not as loud and some are even a waste of time.

A pair of electric Fiam horns are quite loud and are not too spendy. I did consider them originally till I heard a Stebel horn.

Sometimes I feel like putting a siren on my bike...Got to watch out for the cagers.

The local LEO's would really frown upon that. But I like the way you think.

spldart 06-08-2015 06:11 AM

Got the twin car horn for 25 bux. Gonna try it first. Then maybe go air horn if these aren't enough.

Make sure you use a relay or you will fry the horn button. ;) :)

Water Warrior 2 06-09-2015 04:27 AM

How do you get some one's attention with an OEM horn ??? Scroll down. :lmao:

Throw it at them.

alantf 06-09-2015 06:15 AM

I wonder if this is something to do with American "nanny laws" (low volume of horn). The factory fitted one on my European GZ is just fine. :hmm:

Maybe cuz they are outside of an engine compartment.
Louder than any of the other peeps cars I know.
Girl in Toyota Corolla didn't see me and came into my lane no signal.
HONK!!!
She jerked the wheel hard back into her lane but was looking all around cuz
she still didn't see me.
Blind spot I guess.

OMG I look like I'm in a fun mirror at the circus! :lmao:

spldart 06-10-2015 07:26 PM

Intimidate the men.
Scare the women and children.
Send the dogs and cats running.
Squirrels just fall over dead mid stride.
See your enemies driven before you!

Not really. Need more decibels.

One thing is for sure... It don't sound like a motorcycle any more.

Did it ever really sound like a motorcycle before?? :hehe: Some bikes just get short changed in the horn dept.

Just installed a Hella brand horn, replacing the crappy OEM horn the GZ came with. A bit louder (by like 5db I think).

Also, flipped the reflector mount to be higher up. I felt that a few inches up higher couldn't hurt visibility, and it makes no difference to clearance and function.

Liking the look.

derbydave 05-26-2017 05:35 PM

 Make a specticle of yourself. Extra lighting, reflective tape all go towards making a smaller bike more visible.

Razorburns 05-27-2017 08:11 AM

Exactly. To each their own of course.... but yeah, my feeling is more visibility is NEVER a bad thing.

spldart 05-27-2017 10:06 AM

I'm thinking.....

DISCO BALLS!!!! :lmao:

Cuz I'm  :P :hehe:

Vegas Street Rider 05-27-2017 01:43 PM

You would spldart. With your luck, you should mount a flashing red light on your helmet!

Water Warrior 2 05-27-2017 06:34 PM

Yup, a disco ball and a flashing red light would certainly be a spectacle. I imagine the local LEOs would notice you and want to meet you.

Vegas Street Rider 05-27-2017 07:36 PM

At least, he would be noticed.LOL

spldart 05-27-2017 08:47 PM

Perhaps some 70's Disco attire and bedazzle it with rhinestones :D

Whenever I can I wear these while riding....
LIKE A BOSS!
:lmao:

Vegas Street Rider 05-28-2017 01:22 AM

That may work in Sugarland but here in Vegas that is just run of the mill dress code.

Totally gonna start rocking this:

Vegas Street Rider 05-28-2017 11:46 AM

That is like the one in the Allstate commercial.

spldart 05-28-2017 11:54 AM

I'm not ballsy enough to wear that helmet 8O

Water Warrior 2 05-29-2017 10:29 AM

No one would want to follow a disco ball at night. That could be a good thing.

Vegas Street Rider 05-29-2017 01:25 PM

You would definitely need to wear Travolta's white suit with it. High visibility for sure.

spldart 05-29-2017 02:15 PM

So the question is does anyone have the BALLS to do it :lmao:
