silicone spray?
 

We've had some nicer days lately in Michigan (at least for this time of year), so I've been tempted to take the bike out for a ride (it might get up to 60 tomorrow). However, I'm worried about the water and the salt on the roads doing damage. Can you spray silicone, for example, on the frame or other parts of the bike to help offer at least some protection? What do you guys do other than wiping down the bike after a ride in these conditions?

Can't comment on the protection from salt aspect, but I can unequivocably say DON'T GET ANY SILICONE ON YOUR TIRES OR BRAKE PADS.

NO, don't SPRAY anything on; spray it on a small piece of cloth and then wipe it on.
I usually don't worry about it unless it is real bad; then a quick rinse and blow dry (air compressor) gets most of it off.

And don't get silicone anywhere NEAR tires or brakes or hand grips or levers as it tends to migrate to places that you didn't put it and it is a BITCH to get off. I prefer WD40 but it's not as permanent as silicone.

Mostly. I ended up with two part time jobs that together work out to about 1/2 time through the winter months and 1/5 time in the summer. Alas, Murphy says they always call me on the days that I have something else to do! :cry:
