mirror glass
can somebody tell me how to remove the mirror glass?
my mirror joint has becoming too flexible and the mirror doesn't stay fixed, so is useless. There is behind the mirror a mechanism or something? Other method, before i buy a new mirror? |

I'm afraid that the only permanent fix is a new one. On the off chance that the "ball" got some oil or other lube on it, you might try flushing with alcohol; more likely, however, that the spring inside has lost tension. |
Re: mirror glass
There are flat spots on the mirror at the ball joint to allow a wrench to remove the mirror from the stalk. It might have access into the actual panel itself. I doubt there would be an easy way to get to it though.
Your best bet is to just get a new (or used) mirror and be done with it. |

a new one is on the way!

Re: mirror glass
Don't feel bad, I need a new Right side mirror myself, about every 20-30 miles or so depending on how rough the road is, I have to adjust it a little, it doesn't move as much as yours does, but it is aggravating as hell.

Re: mirror glass
Polyurethane glue/caulk would work, could be broken or cut loose if need be, or drip some crazy glue into the ball/socket joint - might work for a while till vibration broke it loose. Cheaper than a new mirror.

I'm impressed with Gorrilla glue; even sealed a tiny hole in a lawn roller with it. For that kind of application, Super Glue might be better. A couple of small drops of that would wick itself around the whole ball. |
Re: mirror glass
glue + tape will be a temp. solution
