any one know what size thread holds on the chain guard.
 

mine fell off today.. about a week ago i had my chain cover off. but today when riding i heard a clanging in my rear end today and pulled over to find my chain guard bolts were gone and the guard was just kind of laying on the chain, im lucky i did not loose it or have the chain tear it up.

i know i tightened them down snug. i need to get new screws to hold it on. any one know what size thread the screws would be for that. im sure its expensive at the dealer and take one-two weeks to get your order in so the hardware store sounds like a better option.

Its probably not expensive just for those bolts, but if you have to wait two weeks on everything you order, you need to be ordering it somewhere else, cause that is ridiculous, most of the time when i order a part from the Suzi shop it takes 2-3 days unless it is on back-order which is not really their fault.

i dont know if any of it was on back order or not. but i ordered it and paid for it and than he told me when it would be in. kind of crap. that is the only suzuki dealer near me.. thats about 35 min away and the otehr two are about a hour away..

The Ron Ayers site says 6 x 10 mm.

Go buy them for $0.15 each at your local hardware store. While you're at it, pick up a $0.03 lockwasher too.

1) Clean oil off of threads, on bolt/screw and in the hole.
2) Use blue Loctite.

#1 is important if you use a lockwasher too !

Get stainless steel, won't rust like cheaper galvanized or plain steel hardware.

Find a store that sells Metric fasteners etc. You will need more in the future whether it be for repairs or mods.

Go to your local auto parts store. They should have a decent selection of automotive grade bolts you can use.

Never heard of anybody using thread to hold parts on a bike.
You really should be using bolts !!! :shocked:
