Is there a "restricter plate" on my 2001 gz?

The previous owner of the bike said I could remove a restricter plate on the intake side of the carb by taking out three bolts and the plate would pop off. Is this true and if so, where is it?

Welcome to the forum. The previous owner was either pulling your leg or didn't know any better. The G.Z. has no restricter plate. The carb mounts by a thick rubber and clamp. :)

They probably meant the air box inlet. It has three bolts and restricts the air flow somewhat. The general consensus here is to leave it in place, otherwise your mixture will become even leaner.

And, welcome ! :2tup:

I never thought of that. But that removes the whole air filter. The bike will run like crap without the filter.
