"o" rings

Hi folks,this is a "heads up",aussie talk for-be prepared-
I have been caught out before when i did my last oil change after the top end rebuild, went to our local suzi dealer(2 hour return trip in the country) and bought a new filter and oil only to get home, pull every thing apart-drain oil etc. On opening my suzuki bag of goodies i pull out the new filter only to find NO "O" RINGS,as the manual states to replace the "o"rings on what ever job that has "o" rings. You would think that suzuki or even your local shop would automatically supply the said "O" rings with your new filter even if it costs a little more.Poor customer service i feel. Bottom line is ,dont forget to buy "O" rings when you change your filter...ken:hmm: |
You are absolutely right----why they do not come with the filter, I do not understand. And like you said even if they charge a little more for the filter---include the O-ring.

Most are like that.My v-star oil filter comes without the o-rings.If you are careful the o-rings last a long time & don't need to be changed every time.I change mine every 3rd change. ;) :)

That's the answer we were looking for...they do not need to be changed every time.
They last for a few filter changes. thank you. |
I put 46000 K on my G.Z. & only changed the o-rings once.Same goes for the crush washer on the drain plug. ;) :)
|
I used to get o-rings with every filter change but then I read here that it isn't necessary every time, so since I have done two changes without changing them. No leaks.
