I could not get my tank decal off using the above described methods and then one day I let it sit in the sun in a parking lot and the tank got very hot. The decal was soft and came right off. Unfortunately not in one piece.
I'm just to big of a chicken when it comes to heat guns and paint especially when I have one you can light charcoal with in a pinch.
