I made new longer mirror rods from a 3/16" (?) galv. steel rod and covered it with chrome tape (my local Home Depot had no aluminum rod). I had to buy the 10mm (?) die.
Cost $12 for the rod and chrome tape. I extended mine 2". I no longer block my own view.
Cheap, easy, and effective.
