riding preferences
I wonder how many of you riders enjoy racing around in city traffic versus cruising the back roads.
since installing the tach I can report in agressive city traffic I generally shift at 4000 - 5000 rpm and stay in 4 th gear to remain in the power band. I have no problems out accelerating the pack when in the front at stop lights. I generally cruise back roads @ 5000-5500 rpm in 5 th gear no problems with wind ( it is very windy around toronto ) or hills ( lots of hills and twistys north of the city ) I can always hit 120-125 kph @ 7500 rpm in 5 th for a burst to top speed never have space to red line but always have more revs left. Install a tach if you are a techie I have always had a tach on bikes I owned in the past .

I'll eventually install the tach, as I like having that extra feedback letting me know what's going on with the bike.
I generally enjoy less traveled roads better. From my experiences on a bicycle and some of which carry over from motorcycling, I simply despise STOP-N-GO traffic. There has got to be a better way to control traffic flows. If I were a mathematician, I would certainly devise some type of red-light algorithum to maintain the optimum amount of flow. Not only would I release stress on the drivers involoved, I would also increase mileage worldwide. |
