another tip that got pounded into my head this past weekend at a motorcycle safety and training class was never to shift to neutral at red lights or stop signs in case you need to jump out of the way...

Had the same problem with the bike I just bought. Threw some chemtool in and let it idle for about 10 minutes to get it into the carb and let it sit overnight. Came back the next day and drained...
