Re: Thinking about life after GZ..already..

Just to put a further twist on the issue.
Is most of your riding urban or highway?
If it is urban, a liquid cooled engine might be a better choice than an air cooled engine.
A radiator and fan...

Re: Any opinons or experiences with either of these two biks

I have owned several Maxim's over the years.
It is the same as the Seca, but on a cruiser frame.

In short, I loved them. Rip your helmet off power, good economy, low maintenance.

Would get...

Re: my bike electrical system is still suffering from a fall

The dump and the main circuit short may or may not be connected.
A couple months back mine started blowing the main bus occasionally.
It became more frequent. Caused a fire in the rain.
Turns...

Re: Cost of oil change

My mechanic charges $40 for filter and synthetic oil and does it while I am at work.
Maybe a touch high, but he does me right with the rest of the work he does.

As to the comment about not...

Re: Three deaths in the first two days of the Myrtle Beach B

Living in the Daytona area, Bike Weeks are amateur hour and should be avoided. I had to run my kid over to a school event on the beach and was shocked, no, make that annoyed at the volume of people...

Re: what oil y'all using?

I am in Florida and use mine to commute.
I have found that conventional oils start to "cook off" or experience thermal breakdown at 1500-1800 miles, the synthetics last much longer, up to triple...

Re: bike doenst wanna shift down

Re: Original / Actual Miles?

The shop could be correct. When my son used the GZ I am riding he only got about 3000 miles from a set of front pads. He admits that he did not use the rear brakes very well. I seem to get about...

Re: traffic lights

The small sensors on top of the traffic signals are emergency vehicle preemption sensors. They are set to recognize the strobe lights patterns on your local EMS vehicles and change or hold the light...

Re: I need to learn how to wave!

Just as an aside. I don't do the traditional biker wave. I learned to ride off road on 3 wheeled atc's and enduro bikes. As such, one of the early rules is "Keep your hands on the bike all the...

Not to make things more difficult for you, but I am anyway....
You seem to have something very specific in mind. Have you considered options to the M50 or the HD?
In the cruiser format you appear...

Re: Is this markup normal?

In Florida insurance companies can suspend a drivers license for non payment. They are supposed to check to see if a lapsed policy has been picked up by another company and send a registered letter...

Re: Is this markup normal?

You may also want to look at a different dealer. One a little way down the road may be more amicable.
Broadening your search to new old stock and lightly used as suggested is also a good idea. ...

Re: Suzuki just dropped the price of a new GZ250 by $1000

Well I'm a bit late to the show, but here are my takes:

The GZ is nice about town. With a 1000 off the price it will be hard to beat as a starter bike. This could be a loss leader to bring folks...

Re: Non-ethanol gas locations.

Here's the thing with gasoline, its all the same. All of the stations in your home town probably buy from the same distribution point, so it is all the same. The companies will try to say...

Re: Lightweight yet more powerful bike?

Personally my preferred bike would be 4 cylinder, shaft driven, fuel injected, with an old universal japanese motorcycle seating set up, probably in the 650-750 range.
Why?
4 cylinder - I have...
