Re: Was riding and heard a ping then bike just died......

Question for the guys who have more carb experience. Is it possible the carb float is hanging up somehow.

It's possible,or maybe the float has fuel in it.I've seen that happen before.

Re: Was riding and heard a ping then bike just died......

Hey guys thanks for the input! After searching through the posts and WW's post it is possible the floats could be the culprit. Not sure why but my gameplan is to drain the tank, start w/ fresh gas and Seafoam to see what happens there.

My biggest concern at the moment is that if you looked at my original concern - a valve... Is it possible I have an Intake Valve issue where is it not pulling the fuel in on PRI? Also I noticed a small tube (not the tank to carb one)..... is that supposed to connect somewhere? I'll post a pic tomorrow if it'll explain what I'm talking about......

As always thanks for the input, hope you have a great Labor Day!

Re: Was riding and heard a ping then bike just died......

One of my first requests for help here turned out to be about that little hose that attaches at the back of the fuel valve. Mine had come loose and the bike would only run consistently when the fuel valve was in the Prime position. Long story short - reattached hose and the bike has run perfectly since.

The little hose he's talking about is the one that causes suction (vacuum) on the petcock, to open it in "run" & "res" when the engine's running. In "pri" fuel flows freely to the carb, so it shouldn't be left in this position after the engine starts. It should only be needed , to start the engine, when you know that the carb is dry.

Re: Was riding and heard a ping then bike just died......

Just a quick update.....

Put everything back together, put the little vacuum tube on the petcock and everything appears to be great!

I agree that I probably jumped the gun and that it most likely was a combination of something being kicked up and hitting the bike and it quitting at the same time....

Now onto installing the 16T....and if I'm brave enough, adjusting the valves!

Thanks all!
