Just Bought First Bike

Good morning gz250 forum! I bought my first bike last weekend. She's a 2007 gz250 and I have put 30 miles on her. Nothing grand but it's a start. Working on getting used to riding so I can use her to commute to school. Love to hear any words of wisdom you all may have!

Re: Just Bought First Bike

Wonderful to have you join in the madness. The GZ is a sweet little bike that will put many smiles and grins on your face.
1st : Have you taken riding lessons from professionals ? Do it, you will learn buckets of info and have greater skills.
2nd : Get a copy of Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough. This is a must do. Consider it the bible of motorcycling. The best life insurance on the planet for a rider whether new or experienced. 1st and 2nd will help you to not develope bad riding habits which can hurt.
3rd : Ride the bike, talk to her, tell her you care about her efforts. They like that you know.

Re: Just Bought First Bike

Welcome aboard! My recommendation is to take the MSF BRC (Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Riders Course) locally. You will then start off on the right foot and avoid many bad habits. Ride safe!

Re: Just Bought First Bike

Thanks for your replies already! I took the MSF BRC In May and it has definitely helped. I will be sure to pick up the book mentioned. And yes, I already say sweet and loving things to my little Ginny! Thanks again!

Re: Just Bought First Bike

Welcome aboard! And as far as the "nothing grand" comment, I used to think the same way - it's just a little 250, right?
That is 'til my cousin, who also rides, told me this :

Take pride in what you ride.

So now I do, and I hope you will too. It's a fun, reliable bike, and the gas mileage is unbeatable! Enjoy it, and always ride safe.

:2tup:
