New From Virginia

Just wanted to introduce myself to the group/forum as I recently purchased a GZ250 for my niece. I've been visiting often (prior to registering) and have found a wealth of information here.

Re: New From Virginia

Welcome. It is customary to post a picture, list year and mileage. (Even though all GZ's are nearly identical.)

Re: New From Virginia

Thanks alanmcorcoran. I certainly will post up a photo once I find some extra time to do so. BTW, I purchased it from a fellow GZ250 Forum member. His handle on here was aleishear. Real nice people out of Maryland and the bike I purchased from them is a beautiful condition 2000 year model teal green with only 2K miles on it!

Re: New From Virginia

Welcome to the forum from South Carolina. You've got a great starter bike there. Your neice should attend the MSF BRC - Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course. That way she can avoid bad and sometimes dangerous habits. They supply the bikes (125s and 250s) so if there is a drop it won't be your bike. Good luck and ride safe.

Re: New From Virginia

Mole2 is very correct in suggesting the avoidance of bad habits. I was one of those self taught riders who luckily never got bit by a bad habit. Finally took a riding course and suddenly bikes were easier to ride and things were a lot safer. Also pick up a copy of David Hough's "Profficient Motorcycling". It is the cheapest health insurance money can buy and worth it's weight in gold.

Re: New From Virginia

Thanks mole2 & Water Warrior for the tips. I 100% agree as far as the MSF course. The purchase of the GZ250 is to just help her get the basics. She resides in TX and I in VA. I figured her parents can pay for the MSF course down there and I'd supply the bike up here when she visits later this Spring.
