Tire Suggestion and Help

I bought a used red 2001 GZ 250. The tires are original and tread is fine with only 2450 miles. I am replacing tires due to age (11 years old). I only ride recreationally and want a good safe tires as I am a beginner. Please offer suggestions on tires and why you think they are good and where can I get tires at a reasonable price. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks. Nita in Nashville

Hello Nita. I remember when you joined the forum, your first post.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5243

After we told you your tires were 11 yrs old, a few guys gave you some good links to places to buy tires and good reasons for preferring this one or that one.

Reread those answers to your "Introduce yourself" post. I believe JVRCustoms gave you 2 or 3 good links.

Re: Tire Suggestion and Help

According to the manual I see the rear is 130/90.... can I move up to a 140/90 with no ill effects?

Anybody know what the 130/90-15M/C 66P stands for?

Thanks!

Yes,you can use a 140/90,that's what I had on mine.I had to put a couple of washers under the brake bar that bolts to the hub for clearance.Other than that,no problem. The 66P is the speed rating of the tire.

130 is the width of the tire in mm.
90 is height expressed in % of the width.
width 130x90% equals 117 mm in height.
15 would be the tire diameter in inches.
66P................I got nuttin.
