stock muffler with 4 holes drilled require carb changes?
hi all, i was wanting to know if drilling 4 holes in the end of the stock muffler require any changes to the carb or can cause any negative long term affects?
i did drill 4 holes in muffler, i did not make any changes to the carburetor...yet. i have rode with the holes now for maybe 4 tanks of gas. i like the sound now. it is not like cutting the muffler off completely loud, just more thumpy and deep. seems to run as peppy as normal, idles same, no dip in performance. *btw i'm running with the 16t sprocket. Pull the plug & check for a white tip (indicates running lean). It should be a tan color. You should be fine as is.

I have a video of what this sounds like on youtube and you can clearly hear the lagging revs and the crap exhaust note that comes from doing this.
You can get by without it, but I would adjust jetting slightly, as the lagging revs clearly indicate that the bike is running lean after doing this. I can't post a direct link, as I am at work and Youtube is blocked. Just do a search for "Marauder Gz 250 exhaust comparison" Login or Register to Remove Ads |
