EZ Glider Cable Lubricator?

So as its getting warmer I'm looking at breaking my bike out. One thing I wanted to do was to properly lube all the points. Lubing the cables sounds messy. I was looking into the various clamp and spray systems, but I'd prefer to use motor oil... I already have it, and its recommended.

So I found this EZ Glider system. Basically just a narrow, flexible syringe filled with oil. It's cheap and reuseable. Has anyone tried these?

The price is right and won't make you feel like a goof if you don't like the results. I see this as a single use item. Right in their FAQ they say the plunger will eventually swell up and bind. I experienced this years ago when using medical syringes to lube small items with oil.
By the time you are ready to lube the cables again the plunger will have swollen up and be very difficult to use.
Personally I just use a small oil can with a spout and drip oil onto the exposed cable and wait for it to work it's way into the cable. Just a bit more time consuming than the product you are considering.
As a side note, some clutch cables have an inner sheath of Teflon that requires no periodic lubing. My Vstrom had this feature and the clutch cable worked freely for the 7 years I had the bike. I did oil the throttle cables a couple times though.
Give it a try and update us on your opinion of the cable lube system.

Another way is to cut a finger off a old rubber glove, and zip tie it to the end of the outer. With the cable upright, fill the finger with oil and let it drain down into the cable for a couple of hours.

Good idea alantf! I did just buy the EZ Glider. Will post here again once I know how well it worked. It's going to snow again tonight... so it might be a little bit...

Nitril rubber gloves would work too. The material is oil resistant. Available at most hardware and auto stores. Cheap and a bag full will cost almost nothing. Great for protecting your hands while tinkering with oily/dirty parts.
