Center Stand

Has anyone built, added or considered adding a Center Stand to the GZ? All my other bikes had them and they are pretty handy.
A dealer suggested finding one off a busa.. any thoughts on what might fit?

We went through this a coupla years ago. After going round in ever decreasing circles, we arrived at a stalemate. Wonder if any new(er) members can come up with anything.

I have seen a photo of a GZ with a center stand, but it wasn't welded to the frame or anything. It was actually just one of those long-leveraged universal bike stands that you slide under the bike with the handle aiming up towards the sky. As you puch the handle down, the base of the stand turns over under the bike and picks it up, lifting the back tire for service and maintenance.

We do have a nice little how-to on making swing-arm supports which work just about as well.

You're going to have to just come up with something and blow us all away.
Maybe weld on some hinge supports on both sides of the bottom frame, come up with a spring mount location and see what you can come up with. But ground clearance is already pretty tight. Good luck.

Here's another one - a portable stand used to pick up the rear wheel - one of many variations on the theme, and there is an old thread on here somewhere about these, including homemade ones:

I was going jack the right side of my bike up a bit yesterday, but i didnt think the kickstand would hold the wieght so i didnt do it. I was at work and decided to clean and lube my chain. My wooden homemade jackstands were at home.

The first link mrlmd1 sent fits only HD. I'm searching now for a motorcycle salvage where I can get a mount and adapt it to the GZ. When I find one I'll do a step by step in the How To section. I might not be the only one who wants a center stand. Besides making it easier to work on the back end of the bike, haven't you ever been on a long ride and come across a place that just screams for you to lay back across the seat and tank and (if your young) stare at the clouds or (if your old like me) take a short nap?! a center stand is the only way to do this :-)

I jack my bikes up (front or rear) on the right with a scissor jack using the kick stand as a third leg (trpod).The kick stand will take the weight no problem.

I did use a scissor jack to lift the front end so i can add fork oil : )
